Beginning with the 2016-2017 school year, Dayton ISD students in grades K-5 started attending elementary campuses based on their home zones. DISD Pre-K students attend at Colbert, 6th – 8th grade students attend Woodrow Wilson Junior High, and 9th – 12th grade students attend Dayton High School.

I sat down with Maria Lopez, a Mother that has a child attending Dayton ISD, who had issue this school year with the school zoning.

I began asking questions about DISD zoning. How do you feel about the school zone? Traffic? “I feel a lot stress because of the traffic from my home to SFA.” If you had the right to change the school zone, would you change it? “Yes, I would change the school zone if I had the right to.” Do you think the administration should redo the school zoning? “Yes, if they changed it ,it will help a lot for everyone and myself as well.”
