This past Saturday, March 22, 2014, the  Dayton High School UIL teams traveled to Barbers Hill High School for the District UIL competition.

“Last year I was made an alternate for Regionals and I was devastated,” junior Kiara Rose said. “I am so elated that I developed due to my many years of experience- YAY REGIONALS!!”

Everyone worked diligently at the past Invitationals to make the District team in their events, and worked even harder for District.

“I read to my mom every night and then I read to myself in the mirror,” Rose said. “I try to read to other random people so I can be used to reading to complete strangers.”

Many of the students advanced, placing 1st-3rd, and will be attending Regionals at Sam Houston University in Huntsville, Texas on May 3rd. They are all very excited for advancing to the UIL Regional meet, and are anxious to see their results.

“It feels as if I accomplished something in my life rather than doing nothing,” senior Matthew Cochrane said.
